Jake Albritton chosen as AISA Lineman of the Year

Montgomery Advertiser sports writer Wesley Kyle reported this morning, “Perry, Albritton nab top honors”! Kyle was reporting on Jake Albritton, selected as the Alabama Independent Schools Association (AISA) Lineman of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association! Jake is a 6’ 5”, 280 pound senior nose-guard for Macon-East Montgomery Academy. He is actually a two-way player.

Kyle quoted Jake’s Macon-East Coach Glynn Lott who said this of the team’s two-year starter, “Jake had to play nose guard for us most of the season because people tried to run away from him at either of the tackle positions. He finished as our third leading tackler. ... On offense, we depended on him to help us up front. We were young on the offensive line this year and Jake had to be our leader." At far right above is the photo of Jake taken by David Bundy that appeared in the Montgomery Advertiser article. The left photo is of Jake with his proud younger brother Josh. Jake’s great Aunt Margie Flomer shared this photo and the wonderful news. (Thanks, Margie!)

Jacob Stephen “Jake” Albritton is the son of James Stephen “Steve” and Amy Lynn Baxley Albritton, grandson of Walter Matthew, Jr., and Louise Eudene “Dean” Brown Albritton, and great-grandson of Walter Matthew, Sr. and Caroline Johnson Albritton (Uncle Walter and Aunt Caroline).

Jake’s grandfather, Walter, Jr., says that he is “one Proud Grampa!” The whole family agrees with that, Jake! We’re all proud of you! Congratulations!! Make way for the visiting college coaches. :-) Family members can write notes of congratulation to “Grampa” Walter, Jr. at walbritton(at)elmore(dot)rr(dot)com. (Anyone have Jake’s email address? We’ll post that if we get it.)
