Members of the Johnson Family contributed $1700 at the 2009 Family Reunion. The money will be used to purchase much needed books for the Seth Johnson Elementary School.

This year at the Johnson Family Reunion, family members gave most generously to the Seth Johnson Elementary School Library - a total of $1700! On 9 September 2009, Orson L. “Pete” Johnson, son of David Glenn and Vaunita Oswald Johnson (Uncle Dave and Aunt Vaunita) visited the school at 4550 Narrow Lane Road in Montgomery. He presented the family’s library donation to Principal Jacqueline Campbell and Library Media Specialist Joyce Brown. Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Brown send a very heartfelt thank you to all family members who contributed. The money will be used to purchase much needed books for the library.

While making the presentation, Pete took the opportunity to tell students in the library about Seth and Neva Kate Carmichael Johnson and about their daughter Neva Carmichael Johnson Bassett (Aunt Neva) who gave the land for the school in honor of her father. See above for photos of the presentation.

Thank you again to everyone who contributed to the Seth Johnson Elementary School Library. The gifts of reading and literacy are precious.
